Venice Simplon-Orient-Express in Venice VIP Travel

This journey has two distinct parts. First, the train. You’ll travel overnight from Calais to Venice on the Simplon-Orient-Express. The carriages are from the 1920s and 30s, restored with their original polished wood and glass panels. You have a private cabin, and a personal steward looks after you for the duration of the trip. Dinner is a formal affair in the restaurant cars, with black tie being the norm. In the morning, you’ll see the Swiss Alps from your window before the train descends into Italy. The clink of glasses in the bar car as the landscape slides by is a sound you'll remember. Upon arrival in Venice, a private water taxi will be waiting to take you not to the city centre, but across the lagoon to the Belmond Hotel Cipriani on Giudecca Island. It’s a different perspective on Venice. You are looking out at the city, away from the crowds. The hotel has gardens and the only Olympic-sized swimming pool in the city, filled with filtered seawater. You can reach St. Mark’s Square in five minutes by the hotel's private launch, which runs day and night.

Dress code

When travelling on board the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express. You can never be too dressed up! During the day, smart daywear is perfect; for lunch, a jacket and tie or equivalent will do.  For dinner, we encourage formal evening attire— many of our guests opt for black tie and the most glamorous finery.  But please note - jeans are a no-go at any time.
