Fitzgerald publishes a story about a man who ages backwards.

Fitzgerald thought little of it; the rest of the world has never quite let it go.
F. Scott Fitzgerald's satirical short story "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" appeared in Collier's magazine on 27 May 1922. The tale of a man born old who grows younger with each passing year was a playful inversion of the American obsession with youth. Fitzgerald himself was dismissive of it, but the premise lodged in the cultural imagination and refused to leave.
