A rivalry had to start somewhere; Lansdowne Road, 1927, and a 5-3 win for the travelling Australians was that somewhere.
On 12 November 1927, the NSW Waratahs (representing Australia) played Ireland at Lansdowne Road in Dublin. Australia won 5-3 in a tight, physical contest.
