Sakhir sits forty minutes south of Manama, in the desert that becomes a Formula 1 circuit for one weekend each March. The Bahrain Grand Prix is the season opener, run under floodlights, with the new-spec cars getting their first real race kilometres.

A season opener at night, in 28-degree desert heat, is a logistical event as much as a race. Hospitality moves you off the standing terraces and into an air-conditioned suite at Turn 1 or the Paddock Club, with dining timed to the local schedule and a transfer back to Manama before the post-race exodus.
