Sesame Street with a hangover: the concept that launched a thousand puppets.
Robert Lopez and Jeff Marx met at the BMI Lehman Engel Musical Theatre Workshop in New York. Both shared an interest in writing a musical that used puppets alongside human actors. They began developing songs and characters inspired by the experience of being a twentysomething in New York City, broke and bewildered. The concept was simple: what if Sesame Street grew up and got a hangover?
