The world's oldest grass court tournament is born in West Kensington.

Grass, racquets, and royal patronage since 1886; Queen's has never needed to reinvent itself.
The Queen's Club opened its doors in 1886, founded as a sporting club catering to a range of racquet sports. The first lawn tennis championships were held that same year, making it the oldest grass court tournament still in existence. The club took its name from its patron, Queen Victoria, and quickly established itself as the spiritual home of British racquet sports.
