MJ The Musical Packages

The show is at the Prince Edward Theatre, a 1930s Art Deco building right in the middle of Soho. But the story itself transports you to a Los Angeles rehearsal studio in 1992. It avoids the typical cradle-to-grave musical format. Instead, it focuses on a very specific two-day period as Michael Jackson is creating his 'Dangerous' world tour. The narrative is framed by an MTV crew filming a documentary, which gives the whole thing a 'behind-the-scenes' feel. You're watching the artist at work, under pressure. It’s about the relentless drive, the obsessive rehearsals, and how the songs and dance routines we all know were polished. You see the hits, but in the context of their creation. The other part of your evening is a table at The River Restaurant by Gordon Ramsay. It’s his restaurant at The Savoy, with views over the Thames. The room is light and airy, a definite contrast to the theatre. The menu focuses on classic British seafood. It’s about a five-minute taxi ride between the two, which makes for a well-ordered evening.
