Grand National Packages

The Grand National is run over four and a half miles and thirty fences at Aintree Racecourse. It’s a race that has a habit of producing stories, not least because of the severity of the obstacles; Becher’s Brook and The Chair are jumps that have become part of the national conversation. The race asks a different question of a horse than any other, and it’s as much a test of a jockey’s nerve as it is their mount’s stamina. There are a few ways to approach the day. One is to arrive by the British Pullman train. It’s a travelling museum of a thing, with carriages from the 1920s and 30s. You’ll have a steward, and they serve you brunch on the way up to Liverpool. It’s a very particular way to start the day, and it means you arrive at the course later than most. At the course itself, The Papillon Restaurant is on the third floor of the Earl of Derby Stand, which gives you a direct view over the course. The Silver Birch Restaurant is a little more removed, set inside the Steeplechase enclosure, with a private terrace. Another option is the Tiger Roll Suite, named after the only horse since Red Rum to win the race twice. It’s located on the first floor of the main grandstand, with a balcony that overlooks the finishing post.

Weather

In April, Liverpool typically enjoys mild spring weather with temperatures ranging from 8°C to 12°C. Occasional showers are common during the Randox Grand National but this doesn't mean the races won’t go ahead! But if you like the look of one of our hospitality packages, then you will be out of the rain and indoors should the rain arrive, simple!

Getting there

Aintree Racecourse is conveniently located on the A59, just a mile from the M57 and M58, seamlessly connecting to the M62 and M6. Simply follow the A59 to Liverpool and look for the yellow tourism signs directing you to the racecourse car parks. Dress code

There is no official dress code when attending the Grand National but coming dressed to feel your best is generally the advice we give to our clients.  If you choose to arrive on the beautiful British Pullman luxury train, we ask you to please avoid causal attire such as denim, trainers, shorts and baseball caps.
