In 1878, Domingo F.C. was established, but as interest in joining the football club grew beyond the parish, they opted to change their name. In November 1879, a meeting was held at the Queen's Head Hotel where it was decided that the club would be renamed Everton Football Club, in honour of the surrounding district.
Goodison Park Stadium received its name due to its location adjacent to Goodison Road. The road was named in honour of George Goodison, a civil engineer who authored a sewage report for the Walton Local Board in the mid-1800s and eventually became a local landowner.
