Two London clubs meet for the first time at Stamford Bridge.

Spurs had barely unpacked their Football League membership when Chelsea beat them 2.1 at Stamford Bridge in December 1909.
On 18 December 1909, Chelsea hosted Tottenham Hotspur in a First Division fixture at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea won 2–1 in what was the first competitive meeting between the two clubs. Spurs had only been elected to the Football League the previous year, and the fixture quickly became a regular feature of the London football scene.
