What to expect

Your 24 Hours of Le Mans experience starts here

The speed of the cars

In 2026 the winning car averaged 215.8 km/h (134 mph) over the full 24 hours, pit stops included. The top speed recorded in the race was 351.8 km/h (218 mph).

Won on distance

First run in 1923, the race is won by the car that covers the most distance in 24 hours, not the first to finish a set number of laps. The 2026 winner covered 5,190 km.

The funfair and Ferris wheel

Between the Ford and Corvette Curves there's a funfair with a Ferris wheel above the track. For 2027 the ACO plans a concert on Saturday evening and a show at 23:55.

Le Mans old town

The Cité Plantagenêt, the old town, sits inside a late Roman wall beside Saint-Julien cathedral. For dinner in town, L'Auberge de Bagatelle has one Michelin star in the 2026 guide.

The Triple Crown

Le Mans, the Monaco Grand Prix and the Indianapolis 500 make up motorsport's Triple Crown. Graham Hill is the only driver to have won all three, completing the set at Le Mans in 1972.

A record crowd

The 2026 race drew a record crowd of 350,105, so expect queues at the entrances and on the trams and roads around the circuit.

Our best tips

Weather

June in Le Mans is mild. Météo-France's 1991 to 2020 averages give a June high of 23.6°C and a low of 12.9°C, with about eight wet days. The coldest part of the day is the small hours, when you'll be watching if you stay for the racing after dark.

Dress code

No dress code has been confirmed for 2027, and we'll tell you if one is set. Dress for a long day outdoors in comfortable shoes, and bring a waterproof and warmer layers for when the sun goes down.

Don't forget

We have to give the hotel and the circuit each guest's details and any allergies. Submit them through your Imperial Corporate Events Client Portal by the deadline shown there, with every name exactly as it appears on the guest's passport.

Frequently Asked Questions

No. Each car is shared by a crew of three drivers who take turns at the wheel, changing over during pit stops through the day and night.

The race carries on, with teams switching to wet-weather tyres. Starter24 has an indoor space as well as the terrace, so you can watch from under cover.

By train it takes about four and a half hours from London: Eurostar to Paris, then the TGV from Paris Montparnasse, which reaches Le Mans in 54 minutes. By car, Le Mans is about 185 km from Caen, under two hours' drive. In Le Mans, tram line T1 runs from the station to its terminus, Antarès – Stade Marie Marvingt, next to the circuit's East Gate, in about 20 minutes.

Partly. About two-thirds of the 13.626 km lap is public road, closed to traffic for race week, so routes south of Le Mans change. Allow extra time for any journey towards the circuit on race days.

Bags are checked at the entrances. The circuit's rules ban glass containers, fireworks and other pyrotechnics, and sharp or bulky objects, and drones may not fly over the circuit. Bicycles and scooters aren't allowed inside either.

Guests under 18 must be with an adult who is responsible for them at all times, and photo ID may be checked when buying alcohol. We don't recommend the race for children.
