What to expect

Your Singapore Grand Prix experience starts here

Marina Bay floodlit for the night race

Marina Bay floodlit for the night race

F1's original night Grand Prix transforms downtown Singapore for one weekend: brake lights, neon hotels and full pit-lane illumination across qualifying and race day.

19 corners on a 4.9km street circuit

19 corners on a 4.9km street circuit

Anderson Bridge crossing, Marina Bay Sands skyline backdrop, 62 laps that almost always run to the 2-hour limit. 260,000-300,000 across the three days.

Singapore the city, in race week

Singapore the city, in race week

Gardens by the Bay's Supertree Grove lights up at 7:45pm. Lau Pa Sat runs late. Raffles still mixes the Singapore Sling at the Long Bar.

F1's first night race, since 2008

The 800th Formula One World Championship race was also the first held at night. Floodlights match a daylight broadcast spec, racing into Sunday evening for European viewers.

Our best tips

Weather

Temperatures hit the high 20s to low 30s°C with high humidity. Thunderstorms are common but typically pass within an hour; heavy rain can delay the race, as in 2022. Pack loose-fitting clothing.

Dress code

No official dress code, but dress smart: loose, breathable clothes for September humidity, plus a light waterproof jacket or umbrella for sudden downpours. Expect muddy, damp shoes near the Padang Stage concert area, which sits on grass.

Getting around

Getting around Singapore

Grab, not Uber, is the app here

Uber sold up and left in 2018, so install Grab before you fly in; Gojek and Tada are the backups.

The MRT is the smart free-time move

Air-conditioned and spotless, it links the hotels to Marina Bay, the river and Orchard Road on any contactless card.

The river quays are the dinner strip

Boat, Clarke and Robertson Quay line the water with bars and restaurants; Robertson is the grown-up end.

The circuit wraps Marina Bay itself

It runs on public roads past the hotels, so once the cars are out you cannot cross between sides; check your grandstand first.

What our guests say

Don't just take our word for it

Formula 1 Singapore

Formula 1 Singapore The main thing for us was that we were able to move our seats so we got a better view, it was a long way to go to just see the back of a car, what would have been even better was to have been able to go into the paddock area or even be close to the start or finish line but that I guess would have been a lot more expensive!! I was just grateful to have the experience of going to see Formula 1 in Singapore!
