Getting around
Witton station is the closest, around a ten-minute walk from the ground. Aston station is also nearby. Both are served by regular trains from Birmingham New Street.
Taxis and ride-hailing services are widely available from Birmingham city centre. Allow extra time on match days as traffic around the Aston Expressway builds quickly.
Villa Park is well connected by road, close to junction 6 of the M6. On-site parking is limited, so pre-booking through your ICE events manager is recommended.

Members of the Villa Cross Wesleyan Chapel cricket team in Handsworth, Birmingham, founded Aston Villa Football Club on 21 November 1874. They needed something to do between cricket seasons. Within a decade, that casual decision would produce one of the most powerful clubs in the land.

Aston Villa were one of twelve clubs that formed the Football League in 1888, the world's first league competition. Villa's director William McGregor was the driving force behind the idea, writing to fellow clubs to propose regular, organised fixtures. He is rightly remembered as the father of league football.
A former Victorian funfair became one of England's finest football grounds within a generation.
After spells at Wellington Road and Perry Barr, Villa moved to the Aston Lower Grounds in 1897, a site that would become Villa Park. The ground had previously been part of a Victorian amusement park. By the early 1900s, it was already one of the finest football venues in England, hosting FA Cup finals and international matches.
Sixty-four years passed before any club matched what Villa achieved in 1897.
Between 1894 and 1910, Villa won the First Division title five times and the FA Cup on four occasions. The 1896-97 side achieved the League and Cup double, a feat so rare it would not be repeated by any club until Tottenham in 1961. This was Villa's imperial age, when they were the dominant force in English football.
One man, two goals, one cup: McParland settled the 1957 final against United almost single-handedly.
After decades of relative decline, including a spell in the Second Division, Villa beat Manchester United 2-1 in the 1957 FA Cup final. Peter McParland scored both goals. It was a reminder that Villa, even in leaner times, could still rise to the occasion on the biggest stage.

On 26 May 1982, Aston Villa beat Bayern Munich 1-0 in the European Cup final at De Kuip in Rotterdam. Peter Withe scored the only goal, and goalkeeper Nigel Spink, making just his second first-team appearance, produced a heroic performance. It remains the greatest night in the club's history, and Villa became only the fourth English club to lift the trophy.

Villa were among the founding members of the Premier League in 1992 and finished runners-up to Manchester United in the inaugural season.
