Two clubs take shape on opposite ends of England.

Railway workers and cricketers, worlds apart; neither knew they were founding a rivalry.
Newton Heath LYR Football Club, the forerunner of Manchester United, was formed by railway workers in 1878. A year later, in 1879, a group in Fulham founded St Andrew's Cricket and Football Club, which would eventually become Fulham FC. Neither club could have imagined the fixture they would one day share.
