Arsenal is born in a Woolwich workshop.

Munitions workers at Woolwich formed a club that swiftly shed its workshop name, and within seven years had become the Football League's first southern member.
Workers at the Royal Arsenal munitions factory in Woolwich formed Dial Square FC in October 1886, quickly renaming themselves Royal Arsenal. The club turned professional in 1891 and joined the Football League in 1893, becoming the first southern club to do so. It was the beginning of an institution that would reshape English football.
