From a church hall in Liverpool, a football giant is born.

A Methodist chapel congregation kicked off what would become one of English football's great clubs.
Everton Football Club traces its origins to St Domingo FC, formed by the congregation of St Domingo Methodist Chapel in the Everton district of Liverpool. The club adopted the name Everton in 1879 and quickly became one of the strongest sides in the north-west, playing at various grounds before settling at Anfield in 1884.
